How do you take an existing website and make it better? That was the challenge presented to us by Great Lakes Cheese, the owner of Adams Reserve Cheddar. The old site was build in HTML and CSS and was difficult to maintain. Simple text and image changes required HTML coding, file uploads via FTP, saving copies of files, and the lack of expansion options. For example, Adams Reserve wanted to completely overhaul their recipes and also add new recipe categories. We also wanted to abandon the older style layout and wanted a more modern, full-width website with HD images and parallax effects. We began by building a 5 page demo on a sub-domain for viewing purposes. Building a sub-domain is a great way to begin a new project while keeping the existing site live and active.
