What happens when you lose your domain name and then lose your website? There are many reasons why you can lose a domain name; failing to pay the DNS bill and losing account information are two of the main reasons. Often times a hosting company is purchased by another hosting company, and if you do not know the new log in information, you can lose your website. This is exactly what happened with Hurricane Painting. The website was hosted at Yahoo Business, and we could not retrieve the log in information, and ultimately lost the website. We solved the situation by registering a new domain name with a .net extension, bought hosting at Namecheap, found the old website at waybackmachine, and built a new site in WordPress.
