I spend considerable amount of time learning new technologies that make e-commerce websites not only more user friendly, but owner friendly as well. That means that I try to make every possible aspect of the store automated; from selecting items with a custom search bar, to checkout, to adding free shipping stipulations, wholesale discounts, user registrations, you name it, we can do it.
An interesting situation though, is in tiered pricing and wholesale discounts. Let’s say for example, your customer would like to buy 12 items of your product, and you offer single purchase price and a “dozen discount”. Simple, we add criteria to the product that allows a discount when 12 items are added. Now what if you also offer a 24 pack price? This is where it gets more difficult, namely because the system will want to give two discounts now; one for the dozen discount, and one for the 24 pack. Fortunately I have figured out a way to prevent that from happening, so now the user can seamlessly choose between 1, 12, or 24 items and the cart will reflect the change accordingly.
